What belt size do I need?
The belt size corresponds to your waist measurement, taken from the inside edge of the buckle to the middle hole. To find it, place a tape measure around the waistband of your riding breeches as if it were a belt and round to the nearest five centimetres.
Using the middle hole as a reference point gives you room to adjust both ways. There should still be a length of belt left behind the buckle so that it sits neatly in the loop.
Leather belt or fabric belt: what is the difference?
Leather belts are the classic choice and look elegant, fabric belts are lighter and sportier. Both types are also available in versions for women and men, to match your riding breeches and show outfit.
With every material it is important that the belt fits the width of the belt loops on your riding breeches and that the buckle holds securely, but can still be opened easily.
Why do many women riders wear elastic belts?
Elastic belts give a little with every movement and are therefore particularly comfortable in the saddle. They are light, flexible and cut in less when you lean forward or ride in a light seat.
A stretch belt is also comfortable for everyday life around the yard when there is a lot of bending and lifting. As with any belt, the crucial thing is a good fit that does not cut in, but still holds your breeches up.
How do I care for a leather belt?
If necessary, wipe a leather belt with a slightly damp cloth and apply a little leather care from time to time. Sweat removes moisture from the leather and makes it dry and brittle over time.
Do not overdo it with grease though, because too much care makes the leather fibres swell and the leather can tear. A wet belt dries best in the open air.
