The crucial measurement for Ariat tops and jackets is your chest, measured under the arms over the fullest part. According to the Ariat size chart, XS corresponds to about 81 to 84 cm chest (EU 32 to 34), S to about 86 to 89 cm (EU 36 to 38), M to about 91 to 94 cm (EU 40 to 42), L to about 98 to 102 cm (EU 44 to 46) and XL to about 105 to 109 cm (EU 48 to 50).

The Ideal is a lightweight quilted gilet with down fill, which Ariat specifies as 700 cuin fill power. According to the manufacturer, the down comes from ethically responsible sources and can be highly compressed, the outer shell consists of 56% polyester and 44% nylon.

The Millbrae is a sleeveless gilet in the style of classic country gilets, which Ariat recommends mainly for spring and autumn. Worn under a jacket it serves all year round as an additional warming layer.

The material is a wool blend of 66% polyester and 34% wool, and according to Ariat the wool is sourced from ethically responsible origins. The gilet has a stand-up collar, a full-length front zip, two hand pockets and quilted detailing at the yoke. The cut is fitted while still allowing plenty of freedom of movement.
