Christ Lammfell Girths

According to Werner Christ, the contour girth is particularly suitable for horses with a pronounced girth area. It is slightly cut back on both sides and therefore gives space to the elbows. The moon girth is intended for horses with more belly or for horses whose girth area lies in front of the saddle position.

With the moon girth the shorter, inner crescent shape points forwards towards the forelegs, the long, curved side towards the belly. According to the manufacturer, this shape adapts to the curve of the belly and is intended to prevent slipping. If you are unsure, a saddler can help you.

Werner Christ makes the contour girth as a short girth from 50 to 90 cm and the long contour girth from 120 to 145 cm, in each case in 5 cm increments. The moon girth is available from the manufacturer from 40 to 90 cm. For Western saddles Christ offers its own contour girths and moon girths.

Which length you need depends on the saddle and the horse. We stock the Christ contour girth in 50 to 90 cm depending on the colour, the moon girth in 55, 65 and 70 cm and the long contour girth in 1.35 and 1.40 m.

According to the manufacturer, Christ Lammfell girths can be put in the washing machine on the wool cycle at a maximum of 30 °C. Werner Christ recommends his C7 sheepskin detergent for this. Normal textile or wool detergents are not suitable. Products with metal parts are best washed in a fabric bag.

You can dry the girth in the tumble dryer at up to 40 °C or in the air in the shade, not in the sun and not on the radiator. While drying, keep pulling the fleece back into shape and then brush it out with a sheepskin brush.

A sheepskin girth sleeve makes a normal girth more comfortable for the horse. Werner Christ describes his girth sleeves as a help for horses with pressure and skin sensitivity that would otherwise tend to develop rubbed girth areas. At the same time they protect the girth.

According to the manufacturer, the girth sleeves can be used universally with different girths. There are dedicated versions for contour girths. We stock Christ girth sleeves in 50 cm, 77 cm (Universal) and 80 cm as well as a breastplate sleeve.
