What size do I need in Hauke Schmidt riding gloves?
You can work out your glove size from the circumference of your hand. Place a tape measure around the widest point of your knuckles, leaving your thumb out. Right-handed riders measure the right hand, left-handed riders the left. According to Hauke Schmidt’s chart, 17.5 cm corresponds to size 6.5, 19 cm to size 7, 20.5 cm to size 7.5 and 22 cm to size 8.
Models such as Ping Pong come in letter sizes. S stands for 6.5, M for 7 to 7.5 and L for 8 to 8.5. We stock Hauke Schmidt riding gloves in numerical sizes from 6 to 10.5 and in S to XL.

What is the difference between the Hauke Schmidt leather gloves Galaxy and Ladies Finest?
Both are full leather gloves. Galaxy focuses on feel, Ladies Finest on grip. Galaxy is made from very soft, water-repellent leather and is deliberately kept thin, so you can really feel the reins. Hauke Schmidt explicitly advises against using it for yard work, because it is only reinforced where the glove is stressed when riding.
Ladies Finest has Pittards Oil Tac leather in the palm for a secure hold and the leather is treated against moisture and sweat. It feels a little stiff at first and only moulds to your hand over time. We stock Ladies Finest in black and mocha light brown.

Which Hauke Schmidt gloves are suitable for winter?
For winter, Hauke Schmidt offers models including Nordic Dream and Polaris, both with full Thinsulate lining that keeps you warm without feeling bulky. Nordic Dream is made from a technical PU material with a high Lycra content, is breathable and is intended for all disciplines. Polaris also has cuffs at the wrist for better insulation.
Both models are machine washable at 30 °C. We stock Nordic Dream in black, navy and mocha in sizes 6 to 8.5.

Which Hauke Schmidt riding gloves are designed for summer?
For warm days there are models such as A Touch of Summer and Ping Pong. A Touch of Summer is lightweight, well ventilated thanks to a Lycra insert over the knuckles and machine washable at 30 °C. Hauke Schmidt does not recommend it for riding in a double bridle with four reins, because at the highly stressed points it has airy material instead of reinforcements.
Ping Pong consists of 80% recycled polyester and is finished with Polygiene Stay Fresh to help keep it fresh for longer. We stock A Touch of Summer in grey, navy and mocha.

Who is behind the Hauke Schmidt gloves?
Behind the brand is the family-run company Schmidt Sporthandschuhe GmbH based in Bad Urach. In the 1960s and 1970s Hauke Schmidt senior was one of the most successful international show jumpers, with over 200 wins in S level show jumping. His son Hauke Schmidt junior ran the glove company Schwenkel from 1998 to 2012 and founded the family’s own brand together with his father.
The gloves are designed by a team led by master glove maker Franz Tasch. For most of the leather gloves Schmidt uses leather from Pittards in Great Britain.
