Hauke Schmidt at Ahrens Reitsport
haukeschmidt is the glove brand of Schmidt Sporthandschuhe GmbH based in Bad Urach in Baden-Württemberg. It was founded by Hauke Schmidt senior, an internationally successful show jumper in the 1960s and 1970s, and his son Hauke Schmidt junior, who had previously run a glove company. The family-owned business manufactures riding gloves for leisure riding and sport, and Pittards leather from Great Britain is used for most leather gloves.
At Ahrens Reitsport you will find leather and technical riding gloves from haukeschmidt, as well as lined winter gloves.
Who is behind the brand haukeschmidt?
Behind haukeschmidt are father and son Hauke Schmidt. The father won more than 200 advanced (S-level) show jumping classes in the 1960s and 1970s. The son ran a glove company from 1998 to 2012 and contributed this expertise.
Together they founded the brand, which is now run by the family-owned Schmidt Sporthandschuhe GmbH in Bad Urach. According to the company, the range comprises more than 30 models in many colours.
What glove size do I need?
You can determine your glove size by measuring the circumference of your hand at the widest point of the knuckles, without the thumb. Right-handed riders measure the right hand, left-handed riders the left.
According to the haukeschmidt chart, approximately 19 cm corresponds to size 7, 20.5 cm to size 7.5 and 22 cm to size 8. If you do not have a tape measure, place a piece of string around your hand and then measure it against a ruler. The most reliable option is to try them on in our shop in Tangstedt.
What are haukeschmidt leather gloves made of?
For most leather gloves haukeschmidt uses leather from the British manufacturer Pittards. According to the brand, particular importance is attached to cut, material and durability.
Our range includes the Ladies Finest leather gloves in black and mocha and the Galaxy model. For cold days there are lined winter gloves such as Nordic Dream and Greenland, and for summer there are lighter models.
