Uvex at Ahrens Reitsport
Uvex comes from Fürth in Franconia. In 1926 Philipp M. Winter founded a workshop there for safety glasses, and in 1956 the brand name uvex was created as a short form of “ultra violet excluded”. Today uvex sports manufactures helmets, goggles and gloves for winter sports, cycling and equestrian sport. According to the manufacturer, the riding helmets are developed and made in Germany.

Where does the brand uvex come from?
Uvex comes from Fürth in Bavaria. Philipp M. Winter made the first safety glasses there in 1926, and in the 1930s ski and motorbike goggles were added. The name uvex was coined in 1956 by his son Rainer Winter as an abbreviation of “ultra violet excluded”, meaning UV protection.
In equestrian sport uvex offers helmets and gloves. According to the manufacturer, the riding helmets are developed and produced in Germany.
Which standard do uvex riding helmets comply with?
The current uvex riding helmets such as perfexxion III and exxeed are, according to the manufacturer, tested to EN 1384:2023. For the perfexxion III uvex additionally cites the US standard ASTM F1163-23.
Both models have a hard plastic shell with a lightweight EPS core. The exact standards your helmet complies with are stated on the label inside the helmet. If you need a specific certification for competitions, we will check this together during our helmet fitting.
How do I adjust the size of a uvex riding helmet?
You adjust most uvex riding helmets using the 3D IAS system with a dial at the back of the head. It adjusts width and height and can also be operated while wearing gloves.
For the perfexxion III uvex also combines three shell sizes with five inner pads, which results in sizes from 52 to 61 cm head circumference. The padding is washable and has a cut-out for a ponytail. The safest way to find the right size is to try the helmet on.
What features do riding gloves from uvex have?
All riding gloves from uvex are, according to the manufacturer, washable and touchscreen compatible. Elastic fabric inserts make them stretchy in all directions, and abrasion-resistant synthetic leather at the contact points provides grip on the reins.
The ceravent also has a ceramic coating using the ceraspace process, which makes it lightweight and hard-wearing. The Sportstyle is also available as a children’s glove, so you can kit out adults and children alike.
