Back on Track at Ahrens Reitsport

Back on Track manufactures textiles whose fibres contain melted-in minerals. The company was founded in 2000 by the physician Dr Erland Beselin, and according to the manufacturer the products are developed in Sweden. For Germany there is a service office in Moers. The range includes clothing, bandages and supports for people as well as rugs, leg protection and accessories for horses and dogs.

At Ahrens Reitsport you will find selected Back on Track items: stable rugs and cooler rugs, a back warmer for the horse as well as gloves, hats and back supports for riders.

What are Back on Track products made of?

Back on Track uses technical fabrics whose fibres contain finely or coarsely ground minerals that are melted in at high temperatures. The best known material variant is called Welltex®. Depending on the product, the manufacturer combines it with fleece, polypropylene or elastic fabrics.

The manufacturer makes its own claims about the effect. Here we describe only the material and construction. If a horse or rider has any health issues, no textile replaces a diagnosis by a vet or doctor.

How is the Fleece Rug Supreme constructed?

The Fleece Rug Supreme is a cooler rug made from polyester fleece with an inner side made from polypropylene that contains melted-in minerals. It has removable cross-surcingles, a tail flap and a tail cord, and the current version additionally has D-rings for a separately available neck cover.

The manufacturer states that it is intended for use before and after training as well as during transport. Because the fabric is breathable, it is also suitable as a cooler on chilly days.

What is the back warmer for horses intended for?

The back warmer is a filled, dimensionally stable pad made from polypropylene with melted-in minerals that covers the back, loins and kidney area. It is available in 100 x 100 cm and 100 x 120 cm.

It is attached with hook-and-loop fastenings to a rug, with a surcingle or lunging roller or with a separate breast strap. Back on Track recommends it for rest periods, for example in the stable aisle, and advises against using it under the saddle. An elastic surcingle does not prevent it from slipping.

How do I wash Back on Track textiles?

Wash the textiles according to the label, rugs and back warmers on a gentle wash cycle at 40 °C. In general, the manufacturer recommends mild detergent without enzymes, no bleach and no fabric softener. Do not tumble dry, iron or dry clean them. Let them dry in the air.

According to the manufacturer, the minerals are permanently melted into the material and do not wash out. The care when washing is mainly intended to preserve the elasticity and shape of the fabrics.
