Pikeur at Ahrens Reitsport
Pikeur is a German brand of riding wear. The predecessor company Haefner & Co. started in 1957 in Uchte near Hanover, and Pikeur emerged from it in 1964. Since 1990 the company has belonged to the Brinkmann Group from Herford, and administration and logistics are based in Werther (Westphalia). Since 1972 Pikeur has been equipping the German Olympic Committee for Equestrian Sport (DOKR).
At Ahrens Reitsport you will find Pikeur riding breeches for women and men, competition riding breeches and show jackets, shirts, socks, hats and accessories as well as clothing for the yard and leisure.
Where does Pikeur come from?
Pikeur comes from Germany. In 1957 the predecessor company Haefner & Co. in Uchte, north-west of Hanover, started production. Until then, riding clothing was usually made individually by a tailor. This became Pikeur in 1964.
In 1990 the Brinkmann Group from Herford took over the company. Since 2001 Pikeur has had an administration building in Werther in Westphalia. The sister brand Eskadron belongs to the same company.
Full seat or knee patch: which Pikeur riding breeches suit me?
That depends mainly on your discipline and the feel you prefer in the saddle. Full seat extends over the seat and inner thighs and gives you a lot of grip in the saddle, which many dressage riders appreciate. Knee patch is only on the inside of the knee and allows more freedom of movement, which many riders prefer when show jumping.
Pikeur offers both options for women, men and children. It is best to try both on in our shop in Tangstedt.
What types of grip does Pikeur offer?
Pikeur distinguishes between four types of grip: Grip, screen print (SD), Flex synthetic leather and McCrown. Silicone grip is non-slip and provides a very secure seat. The screen print grip is particularly stretchy and comfortable to wear.
McCrown and Flex synthetic leather look more classic, like leather, with Flex being lighter. Which grip you prefer is also a matter of taste. Comparing them in the saddle helps most.
Does Pikeur offer riding breeches with a high waist and for winter?
Yes, Pikeur offers riding breeches with a high, mid or low waist. Which waist height is more comfortable depends on your figure and preference. In addition to classic riding breeches with button and zip, there are also riding tights without fastenings.
Pikeur also distinguishes between all-season models made of breathable fabrics and lined winter riding breeches for cold days. The collections are called Selection, Sports and Athleisure.
