HOBO Paddock Boots

The Laceboot Safety, sold by HOBO under the name Safety Lacer, has a built-in steel toecap. It is tested according to EN ISO 20345:2011 and, according to the manufacturer, withstands an impact of 200 joules. The SB safety class also requires shock absorption of at least 20 joules in the heel.

The paddock boot has lacing and a zip at the back. It is made from firm, matt greased cowhide leather with textile lining, and the profiled rubber sole is resistant to oil and acid. HOBO explicitly describes the Safety Lacer as a model that is also suitable for riding.

The Adan HG is the more fully featured model, the Sir John a lightweight pull-on paddock boot. The Adan HG from the HG collection is made from thick cowhide leather and is fully lined on the inside with vegetable-tanned leather. It also has a leather insole board, a replaceable insole and an anti-shock footbed.

The Sir John from the Basic collection is made from cowhide leather and has a leather lining, elastic inserts at the sides and a grippy, flexible rubber sole. HOBO describes it as light and sporty, for riding and everyday wear. HOBO designs its shoes in Germany and has around 90% manufactured in Portugal, and the manufacturer explicitly describes the Adan HG as fairly produced in Portugal.

Yes, HOBO paddock boots come in a wide size range that covers typical women’s and men’s sizes. HOBO offers the Adan HG in sizes 35 to 48, and the Sir John even from 28 to 48. The Safety Lacer with steel toecap is available in sizes 35 to 46.

We stock the paddock boots in black, depending on the model in sizes between 36 and 45. Since every last fits differently, it is worth trying them on in our shop in Tangstedt, ideally with the socks you also wear at the yard.

The most important rule according to HOBO: never dry wet shoes on a heater, with a hairdryer or in a tumble dryer. Clean the leather with a damp cloth and then treat it with leather grease, shoe cream or a waterproofing cream.

Leather grease closes the pores, protects against dirt and moisture and keeps the leather supple. Shoe cream leaves the pores open and provides colour and shine. You can rub out small scratches using a cloth with a little leather grease. Keep zips clean with a brush, and metal zips can be made to run smoothly with wax or graphite.
