What does Soundless mean on the Kentucky fly veil?

Soundless stands for sound-absorbing ears. These Wellington fly veils protect the ears from flies when you are riding and are intended to prevent the horse from being distracted by noises. The material around the ears is stretchy and thin.

In our range, for example, the Wellington Glitter Soundless and the Wellington Soundless s+p (Stone & Pearls) carry this designation. For the Velvet models, on the other hand, Kentucky only mentions protection against flies.

How do I wash a Kentucky fly veil?

That depends on the model. According to Kentucky, the plain Wellington Soundless is machine washable at 30 degrees, ideally infrequently and in a laundry bag. It should be air-dried, as the manufacturer does not recommend a tumble dryer.

For decorated veils such as Stone & Pearls, Glitter or Velvet, Kentucky instead recommends hand washing so that the stones, pearls and velvet details stay beautiful for a long time. Before washing, it is best to take a look at the label on your fly veil.

Why does the Kentucky Wellington fly veil not slip?

Kentucky has lengthened the headpiece of the Wellington fly veils so that the veil stays in place when you are riding. The material around the ears is also stretchy and cut slim so that it fits closely to the head.

The veils are hand-knitted, which according to the manufacturer makes them durable. In our shop the Wellington models are labelled in Warmblood and Thoroughbred size so that you can choose the size to suit your horse type.

Can I have a Kentucky fly veil embroidered?

Yes, this is expressly intended with the Wellington fly veils. Kentucky has omitted a visible logo on the forehead so that riders or sponsors can have their own logo embroidered on.

At Ahrens Reitsport we offer embroidery, including for single items and team orders. We are happy to clarify in advance in our shop whether your veil can be embroidered with your chosen design.
