Waldhausen Girths

The classic Waldhausen leather girth is softly padded, has an anatomical shape and features elastic girth ends on both sides, stainless steel roller buckles and rings for training aids.

If the saddle slips forwards on round-bellied horses, a moon girth such as the Contour leather girth is a good choice. It is made without elastic and with three D-rings. For girthy horses Waldhausen offers the Elastik leather short girth, whose two elastic inserts between the padded leather parts allow more freedom of movement for breathing. If you are unsure, your saddler’s advice will help.

The spur protection guard protects sensitive horses from rubbing in the area where your lower leg lies. According to Waldhausen, the highly elastic, breathable technical material fits like a second skin. It is attached with three hook-and-loop loops to the girth and with two adjustable straps with snap hooks to the breastplate rings.

Waldhausen recommends it for freshly clipped, sensitive and fine-skinned horses. It should not be used with sharp spurs. Unstretched it measures 155 to 170 cm.

Yes, Waldhausen offers both variants. The sheepskin short girth has a real sheepskin cover to prevent rubbing and pressure marks, and thanks to hook-and-loop fastenings the cover can be removed for washing. It has D-rings and stainless steel roller buckles and is made without elastic.
