Waldhausen Grazing Muzzles

Waldhausen offers several grazing muzzles for turnout that mainly differ in the material used. The Comfort muzzle is padded with teddy fleece and anatomically shaped, and is intended to prevent chafing. The field muzzle is designed to be airy and, according to the manufacturer, comfortable even at high temperatures. The textile muzzle is tear-resistant, has no rubber inserts and is softly padded in the mouth area.

There are also sturdy plastic muzzles with air holes that can be washed out. We stock the Comfort muzzle and a five-way adjustable grazing muzzle from Waldhausen.

On the Comfort muzzle, the field muzzle and the textile muzzle the headpiece is secured on one side with hook-and-loop fastening. According to Waldhausen this is intended to prevent the horse from getting dangerously caught. All three can be infinitely adjusted at the headpiece, and the Comfort and field muzzles also have a lead ring.

A good fit remains important so that nothing rubs and the horse can breathe freely. Check the fit regularly during the first few days. Waldhausen names excessive grass intake and medical conditions as reasons for use, so it is best to discuss duration and use with your vet.

Waldhausen offers the Comfort muzzle, field muzzle and textile muzzle in sizes SH, PON, VB, WB and XWB. For the textile muzzle the manufacturer gives exact measurements: in WB it measures 65 cm in circumference at the widest point and 43 cm at the narrowest, with a diameter of 20 cm and a length of 22 cm. VB has a top circumference of 57 cm, XWB 72 cm.
