Waldhausen Lunging Equipment

For a soft lunge line with a good grip, Griffy and Soft are the right choice. If you prefer a classic look, you can choose a webbing lunge line. According to Waldhausen, the Griffy is made from polyester, is around 8 m long and has a swivel snap hook that is intended to prevent the line from twisting.

The Soft lunge line is also about 8 m long, is especially hand-friendly and additionally has a hand loop and a swivel snap hook. The webbing lunge line with swivel has leather stops, a swivel at the front and an interchangeable snap hook.

Waldhausen identifies one of its own lunge lines as compliant with the German competition rules (LPO). It is made in accordance with the LPO guideline without swivel and without leather stops. It consists of webbing (polypropylene on the inside, polyester on the outside), is about 8 m long and has a hand loop and an interchangeable snap hook.

The Anatomic is a leather lunging cavesson with an anatomical cut that gives the ears and cheekbone particularly generous freedom. Waldhausen describes it as very softly padded, with stainless steel fittings and suitable for use with or without a bit. From the manufacturer it is available in sizes Pony, Thoroughbred, Warmblood and Warmblood extra.

As a general rule Waldhausen recommends fastening the padded noseband of a lunging cavesson similarly to a cavesson noseband. The rings on the nose provide attachment points for the lunge line or training aids.

With a lunging attachment you lunge via both bit rings instead of only one. The Waldhausen version has one ring for the lunge line and two snap hooks for the bit. According to the manufacturer, the built-in swivel makes it easier to untwist the lunge line when you change rein.

Waldhausen explicitly recommends the leather lunging roller with 13 rings for work with long reins. It is softly padded. The Teddyfleece roller has 12 rings, so you can route the lines individually.

The Premium Gold long reins have round-plaited front sections, which run easily through guide pulleys, and a soft webbing section for your hand. Waldhausen points out that working with long reins requires experience and recommends courses or specialist literature for this.
