What is the difference between Waldhausen rubber reins and leather reins?
According to Waldhausen, rubber reins rely on grippy rubber for a secure hold, leather reins on classic leather. The Waldhausen rubber rein is made of soft rubber with a nylon core, is 22 mm wide and has martingale stops. The version with hand stops is 16 mm wide, has five hand stops on each side at 15 cm intervals and measures 145 cm in Warmblood and 130 cm in Pony.
The leather snaffle rein is 16 mm wide, with buckles and without martingale stops or hand stops. The Supersoft leather rein made from soft leather, on the other hand, has leather hand stops, martingale stops and hook studs. According to Waldhausen all reins have stainless steel buckles.
What is the Waldhausen X-Line triangle rein intended for?
The triangle rein is suitable for riding and lunging and is intended to bring the horse into a forward-downward outline. Because it slides through the bit rings, according to Waldhausen it acts gently, supports balance and prevents the horse from leaning on the bit.
The one-piece rein made from soft leather is length-adjustable. In Pony, the working length ranges from 1.90 to 2.10 m, in Warmblood from 2.06 to 2.22 m. Like any training aid, it should be fitted correctly and only used after consulting your trainer.

What is the difference between side reins with and without rubber rings?
Both versions are made of leather at Waldhausen, the difference is the integrated rubber rings. Waldhausen describes the Star side reins with rubber rings as side reins for training and schooling, multi-adjustable and made from robust leather. The version without rubber rings is also made from genuine leather and, like the other one, is supplied as a pair.
The side reins without rubber rings are approximately 74 to 95 cm in Pony and approximately 93 to 117 cm in Warmblood. We stock Waldhausen leather side reins both with and without rubber rings.

What are Waldhausen neck extenders and balance reins for?
Waldhausen recommends the Elastic neck extender for horses that become tense in the poll and back and that go against the rider’s hand. It is fully elastic, infinitely adjustable and also suitable for lunging.
The Linda Tellington-Jones balance rein made from polypropylene is used in addition to the normal rein. It is intended to help the horse to collect and stay in balance. According to the manufacturer it must be well adjusted and the rein aids must be divided equally between both reins. It is best to have your trainer with you the first time you use it.
