Bucas Stable Rugs & Liners

Bucas measures from the centre of the chest over the highest point of the shoulder to behind the hind leg, then assigns the measured value to a rug size. The size label 145-6,6 stands for the EU size 145 and the British size 6 feet 6 inches.

According to the Bucas size chart, size 145 corresponds to a measured length of about 198 cm, size 155 to 206 cm and size 165 to 213 cm. For horses between two sizes Bucas offers chest extenders. Depending on the model, we stock the stable rugs in sizes 140, 145, 155 and 165.

The number of grams indicates the fill, and SF stands for the silky Dermo-care lining. The Bucas Quilt is available with 50, 150 or 300 g fill and with two linings: Dermo-care (SF) lies smoothly against the coat, Stay-dry (SD) is a fleece and wicks moisture away even faster.

The Quilt has an Oxford outer fabric, T-bar fastening, crossed surcingles and a fillet string. It can be used on its own as a stable rug or as an additional layer under a Bucas turnout or stable rug. We stock the Quilt 150g SF and the Quilt SF 300g in Navy.

The Freedom Twill Sheet is a lightweight summer rug for stable and travel made from single-layer, robust polyester twill. Bucas recommends it as a stable, summer and travel rug.

At the front the rug closes with an overlapping T-bar and hook-and-loop fastening, while crossed surcingles and a fillet string keep it in place. At the shoulders it has a silky lining. Bucas offers the classic cut in sizes 85 to 165, and we stock the Twill Sheet in Navy.

Wash Bucas rugs at a maximum of 30 °C, because higher temperatures can impair their function according to Bucas. Close all hook-and-loop fastenings beforehand so that no dirt from the machine sticks to them, and hook up the surcingles so that they do not flap around freely.

Bucas recommends its own Rug Wash for this. According to the manufacturer, small tears can be repaired with the Bucas Repair Kit. Waterproof rugs should also be reproofed after washing according to Bucas.
