Hans Melzer Horse Equipment Bridles

Hans Melzer offers his bridles with different nosebands: cavesson with flash (for example Bad Harzburg, Mechtersen, Bredeneek), Swedish cavesson with flash (for example Hagen, Aachen, Wiesbaden Comfort), drop noseband, grackle noseband and Swedish noseband on the Valluhn model, as well as a grackle noseband on the Calgary.

The Tokio bridle has an anatomically shaped, extra softly padded noseband and is designed for high wearing comfort with the premium headpiece. We are happy to advise you on your choice in our shop in Tangstedt, and Julia Lühr can also advise on bit and bridle fitting.

Hans Melzer makes his bridles in Pony, Cob, Full and XFull sizes, and individual models such as the Bad Harzburg are also available in XXFull. In our shop the sizes are labelled according to the German system, for example Pony, Thoroughbred (VB) and Warmblood (WB).

According to the manufacturer, reins are included with every bridle. If you are unsure which size your horse needs, the best option is to compare bridles in our shop in Tangstedt with your horse’s current bridle.

These terms describe the design of the bridle. At Hans Melzer, Comfort is a separate noseband width alongside Standard and Wide, found for example on the Wiesbaden Comfort and the Aachen. Patent means that the noseband is made with patent leather, and matt is the version without patent leather.

Rolled means that the leather is stitched into a round shape rather than flat, as on the Aachen bridle. Padded, as in black padded or white padded, refers to the colour of the padding. Some models fasten with hook stud closures instead of a buckle.

From 2001 to 2021, Hans Melzer was the national coach of the German eventing riders. Together with Anne Melzer he launched the first bridles in 2010 and the range now also includes double bridles, breastplates, headcollars, browbands and reins.

A hallmark of the brand is the specially shaped and extra padded headpiece, with the Luhmühlen bridle featuring a new poll-friendly fit. According to the manufacturer, only high-quality leather is used.
