HKM Riding Helmets

According to HKM, the Lady Shield, Illusion and Alarion riding helmets comply with the European standard EN 1384 in the 2023 version. For the Lady Shield the manufacturer additionally specifies the test standard VG1 01.040 2014-12 and points out the CE marking.

HKM states that all its riding helmets comply with the currently valid riding helmet standard and are constructed with a shock-absorbing inner shell and an impact-resistant outer shell. The decisive factor is your head circumference in centimetres. HKM divides the helmets into S for 52 to 54 cm, M for 55 to 57 cm and L for 58 to 60 cm, with Illusion and Alarion additionally available in XS for 49 to 51 cm and XL for 61 to 63 cm.

Within the size you adjust the helmet steplessly using a dial at the back of the head. With the Lady Shield you also adjust the chin strap length using a loop. The helmet should sit firmly without pinching. In our shop in Tangstedt you can compare different sizes directly.

The Lady Shield is a helmet for women and children with a wide peak, a matt base colour and a shiny frame. The Illusion is also matt and has a large glitter section in the centre, a frame strip in a contrasting colour and ventilation areas.

The Alarion features a modern carbon design with integrated ventilation holes, and the Alarion Diamond variant is additionally decorated with crystal stones. According to HKM, all three are adjusted using a dial and supplied in a fabric bag. At Ahrens Reitsport we stock Lady Shield, Illusion and Alarion Diamond in black.

Yes, with the Lady Shield and the Illusion the inner lining is, according to HKM, removable and replaceable. With the Illusion it is attached with hook-and-loop fastenings and can be removed for hygiene reasons, and the soft padding on the inside ensures wearing comfort.

The Illusion also has softly padded chin and neck straps. For transport and storage HKM supplies its helmets in a polyester fabric bag. For care of the lining and the shell, please observe the safety instructions that HKM provides on its product pages.
