What size do I need in a Horseware turnout rug?

Measure with a soft tape measure from the centre of the chest, over the point of the shoulder to the centre of the tail, then subtract 10 cm. Compare this measurement with the Horseware size chart: 206 cm corresponds for example to size 6'9 or 155 cm.

Horseware gives a centimetre and a foot measurement for each size, and on our site both are shown side by side, for example 155-6,9 or 130-6,0. According to the manufacturer the chart is only a guideline, because horses of the same height can have very different builds.

What fill do I need: 0 g, 100 g, 250 g or 400 g?

The gram number indicates how much fill is inside the rug. Horseware classifies 0–100 g as a light rug, 150–250 g as a medium and 300–450 g as a heavy rug. The Amigo Bravo 12 is available in all three ranges, from the unfilled version with 0 g up to the winter rug with 400 g.

You can attach Horseware liners using the loops so you can increase the warmth if needed. Horseware points out that the weather can change quickly and advises you to always pay attention to your horse’s wellbeing.

How do I wash a Horseware turnout rug?

Horseware recommends having turnout rugs cleaned professionally. According to the care instructions for the Amigo Bravo 12, the rug is machine washable at 30 degrees. It must not be bleached, tumble dried or ironed.

Before washing, close all hook-and-loop fastenings and secure straps and buckles. Dry the rug in the air and away from heat sources. Afterwards, store it folded in a breathable bag in a cool, dry place out of strong sunlight.
