Kask Riding Helmets

The decisive factor is your head circumference: according to the size chart, Kask offers its riding helmets in sizes 51 to 63, with the size corresponding directly to the circumference in centimetres. You measure this with a tape measure just above the ears, along the slightly slanted line shown by Kask in its size chart.

With Dogma and Star Lady you can also adjust the fit using the removable Dogma inner padding, which according to the manufacturer allows size adjustment within the same shell. If you are between two sizes, it is worth trying helmets on in the shop, because a helmet must fit firmly without pinching.

The most important difference lies in the construction: Dogma and Star Lady have an ABS outer shell with a water-repellent, scratch-resistant fabric cover (Chrome) or a glossy surface (Pure Shine), an inner lining made of 100 per cent merino wool and an inner shell made of polystyrene in three densities. There is also the patented, self-adjusting Kask Fit System with neck support.

Kooki, Kooki Lady and Nemesi have a double-shell construction: EPS with thermoformed polycarbonate at the bottom and injection-moulded ABS at the top. Their padding consists of breathable, antibacterial technical fabric with an integrated fit system. According to the manufacturer a Kooki weighs around 450 g, Dogma Chrome and Nemesi around 550 g, Star Lady Pure Shine around 586 g.

Kask riding helmets are tested to the European standard EN 1384:2023 and the American standard ASTM F1163, with ASTM certification carried out by SEI. Kask states this both in the FAQs for riding helmets and in the technical data of individual models such as Dogma Chrome, Star Lady Pure Shine, Kooki and Nemesi.

For competitions, the current schedule and the rules of your federation always apply. Kask provides declarations of conformity and user manuals as documents on the product pages.

You should replace the helmet after a heavy impact, even if you cannot see any damage, because its ability to absorb further impacts may be impaired. Without a fall Kask recommends replacement after about 10 years, because the materials age.

According to the manufacturer, how quickly a helmet ages depends on temperature changes, exposure to sunlight and how intensively it is used. Check it regularly for cracks, loose parts, deformations, flaking areas and colour changes. The manufacturing date is printed inside the helmet.

Yes, on current Kask riding helmets the inner padding is removable and washable. On Kooki and Nemesi it is attached to the shell using the Click-in System with three pins, which makes replacement and cleaning easier.

For Dogma and Star Lady, Kask offers the Dogma inner padding, made from merino wool from the Italian manufacturer REDA, as a separate item, and there is a dedicated replacement padding for Kooki. According to the manufacturer, the synthetic leather chin strap is skin-friendly and easy to clean.
