Kerbl Care Products

Ballistol Animal is a care oil that Kerbl recommends for horses for the care of tail, hooves and coat. According to the product information it is also intended for sensitive skin, for paw care and for cleaning the outer ear in small animals and pets. It is manufactured by Ballistol GmbH, and Kerbl offers it in 100 ml and 500 ml.

We stock both bottle sizes. Ballistol Animal is a care product and does not replace treatment. If skin changes do not heal, or if there are hoof problems, please have your horse examined by your vet or farrier.

Kerbl wound care spray is ready to use and, according to the instructions, is sprayed onto the affected areas 1–2 times daily for up to one week. It is intended for superficial injuries and skin lesions and contains mint oil and allantoin.

According to the manufacturer it forms a protective film that is intended to prevent the area from reopening and keeps scabs supple. Kerbl points out that it can trigger allergic reactions. In the case of deep, heavily bleeding or non-healing wounds your horse needs to see a vet.

Desino Jod Plus is a disinfectant spray based on an alcoholic iodine solution, similar to classic iodine disinfection. Kerbl recommends it for local disinfection of skin and navel in livestock. According to the product information it contains 25 g of iodine per kilogram.

As a biocide it must be used with care. Read the label and product information before use. The spray is flammable, must be kept out of the reach of children and should be applied while wearing protective gloves. If you are unsure whether it is suitable for a particular injury your horse has, it is best to check with your vet.
