How much Lexa linseed oil should I give my horse?

Lexa recommends a daily amount of 30 to 50 ml linseed oil for large horses and 15 to 30 ml for small horses, ponies and young horses. The cold-pressed oil is simply added to the feed and, according to the manufacturer, supplies the horse with polyunsaturated fatty acids and easily digestible energy.

We do not currently stock linseed oil from Lexa in our online shop. From Lexa we offer rice germ oil, hemp oil and milk thistle oil, each in a 1-litre bottle. We are happy to discuss which oil is suitable for your horse as part of our feed advice service.

What is Lexa rice germ oil fed for and how is it dosed?

Lexa uses rice germ oil as a supplement during training phases in order to support muscle development. It contains the plant substance gamma-oryzanol, which is said to promote muscle development, and many natural antioxidants.

The manufacturer’s feeding recommendation is 30 to 50 ml per day for large horses and 15 to 25 ml for small horses and ponies. You simply add the oil to the hard feed or bucket feed. It consists of 100% rice germ oil. Training and suitable basic feeding remain crucial for muscle development.

Which horses is Lexa hemp oil suitable for?

Lexa especially recommends hemp oil for horses with sensitive skin and a sensitive coat. The oil contains many unsaturated fatty acids, including gamma-linolenic acid, and according to the manufacturer has a favourable ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids. The fatty acids are also intended to support the immune system.

According to the manufacturer, large horses receive 15 to 25 ml daily, small horses and ponies 10 to 20 ml. The product consists of 100% hemp oil. If skin problems persist, you should have the cause investigated by a vet.

When and for how long should you give Lexa milk thistle oil?

According to Lexa, milk thistle oil should only be fed as a course, and the manufacturer particularly recommends it during coat change. The seeds of the milk thistle contain silymarin, as well as flavonoids, which are used to support liver cells.

Lexa states a daily amount of 30 to 60 ml for large horses and 15 to 25 ml for small horses and ponies. Lexa explicitly points out that national and international anti-doping regulations must be observed. If you compete at shows, you should therefore clarify its use in advance, for example with your vet.
