Where does Lexa horse feed come from?
Lexa comes from the Unterallgäu region in Bavaria. The brand belongs to Xaver Scheule GmbH, which was founded in 1923 by the chemist’s shop owner Xaver Scheule. Since then the company has been developing and producing feed for horses and livestock.
In 1992 the production site and administration were set up in Derndorf, a district of Kirchheim. The site has since been expanded several times, most recently in 2019 with two new halls for storage and shipping.
How much mineral feed from Lexa does my horse need per day?
That depends on the product and on body weight. The exact quantity is stated on every pack. For the grain-free Basis-Mineral, for example, Lexa specifies 20 g per 100 kg body weight, which is about 90 to 150 g for large horses and 40 to 80 g for ponies and small horses.
Special mineral feeds may have different dosages. You should therefore follow the instructions for the individual product. If your horse has pre-existing conditions it is best to discuss the ration with your vet.
Can I test beforehand whether my horse likes the feed?
Yes, Lexa offers feed samples for many products so you can check acceptance in advance. This is particularly worthwhile for fussy horses before you buy a big sack.
The manufacturer also offers its own feeding advice service. According to its own information Lexa works with QS-certified raw materials. We are happy to answer questions about the range in our feed and care advice service in Tangstedt.
