Question 1

Where does Leovet come from?

Julia Lühr · Accepted Answer

Leovet comes from Lahnau near Wetzlar in Hesse and was founded in 1982 by Dr Ulf Jacoby. He was a pharmacist, owned horses himself and rode in competitions. This experience provided the impulse for developing his own care products.

The company trades as leovet Dr. Jacoby GmbH & Co. KG and is run as a family business. Development and production take place in Lahnau. According to its own information, Leovet uses raw materials and active ingredients of pharmaceutical quality.

Question 2

Which Leovet leather care product do I use for what?

Julia Lühr · Accepted Answer

Leder Seife is suitable for daily cleaning, and Leder Öl for heavily used leather. According to the manufacturer, Leder Balsam is intended for a glossy finish, while Leder Schaum cleans and conditions in one step.

Leder Ruck Zuck combines saddle soap and leather grease when you need to be quick. Leder Schutz forms a protective care layer. Leather care from Leovet is plant-based. Test new products first on an inconspicuous area.

Question 3

Which coat and mane care products does Leovet offer?

Julia Lühr · Accepted Answer

Leovet offers coat sprays, shampoos and styling products, some of which are tailored to coat colour. In addition to the 5-Sterne range there is Silkcare as well as Power Striegel and Power Shampoo with walnut for dark coats and with camomile for light coats.

Leovet has its own products for greys. For plaiting before competitions there is 5-Sterne Flecht Grip. If you are unsure, feel free to ask in our shop which product is suitable for your horse.

Question 4

Am I allowed to use Leovet products before a competition?

Julia Lühr · Accepted Answer

That depends on the product, which is why you should check it before the competition. On its website Leovet publishes an overview, valid since February 2026, of the doping relevance of its products under the rules of the German Equestrian Federation (FN).

Have a look there before use, especially for first aid products and supplements. For health-related questions about your horse, your vet is the right person to contact.
