FNverlag at Ahrens Reitsport
FNverlag is the publishing house of the German Equestrian Federation (FN) in Warendorf. It started work in 1977 as a wholly owned subsidiary of the FN. In addition to the official guidelines for riding, driving and vaulting and rule books such as the LPO (German competition rules) and APO, it publishes textbooks, guides and children’s books written by well-known experts from the equestrian scene.
At Ahrens Reitsport you will find rule books and test booklets from FNverlag for competition riders, the guidelines for basic training, and examination books to help you prepare for achievement badges such as the “Pferdeführerschein” riding and horse-handling certificate.
What is FNverlag?
FNverlag is the specialist publisher of the German Equestrian Federation (FN), the umbrella organisation for equestrian sport and horse breeding in Germany. It has been operating since 1977 as a wholly owned subsidiary of the FN in Warendorf.
Its programme includes the guidelines for riding, driving and vaulting, the rule books for competitions (LPO) and for training and examinations (APO), as well as textbooks, guides and children’s books. Its authors include recognised trainers and experts from the equestrian world.
What is the difference between LPO and APO?
The LPO (Leistungs-Prüfungs-Ordnung, the German competition rules) governs competitive sport, while the APO (Ausbildungs- und Prüfungs-Ordnung) governs achievement badges and training examinations. Both are issued by the FN, published by FNverlag and also available online.
If you compete, you mainly need the LPO and the corresponding test booklets. If you would like to take a riding or lunging achievement badge, follow the APO and use the examination books to prepare.
Which book helps you prepare for an achievement badge?
To help with preparing for achievement badges FNverlag publishes its own examination books, for example for the “Pferdeführerschein” riding and horse-handling certificate or on the topic of understanding horses. In these you will find the content that is tested in the examination.
The foundation for rider training is Volume 1 of the guidelines (Richtlinien), which covers basic training for rider and horse. In addition, riding pupils can prepare for their examination online on the FN badge website.
