Aigle at Ahrens Reitsport
Aigle is a French brand for wellington boots and outdoor clothing. The American Hiram Hutchinson founded the company in 1853 after acquiring a patent for the vulcanisation of rubber. Since 1967 Aigle has been making its wellington boots by hand from natural rubber in Ingrandes in France.
At Ahrens Reitsport you will find wellington boots from Aigle for yard and field, including models from the Parcours range and colourful children’s wellington boots, as well as waterproof women’s parkas.
Where does the brand Aigle come from?
Aigle comes from France. The company was founded in 1853 by the American Hiram Hutchinson, who had bought a patent for the vulcanisation of rubber. Vulcanised rubber is more elastic and waterproof.
At first, waterproof shoes were produced, later wellington boots and rainwear. Today Aigle has several hundred shops in Europe, Asia and America.
How are Aigle wellington boots made?
Aigle wellington boots are handmade in Ingrandes in France. According to the manufacturer it is the only factory for natural rubber boots in the country, and around 220 bootmakers work there.
Each boot goes through about 60 production steps with quality controls. The Parcours 2, a robust boot for heavy use, is also made there. We stock versions of it with an adjustable leg and with insulation for cold days.
How do I look after wellington boots from Aigle?
Wash the boots after wearing with clean water or a mild, pH-neutral soapy solution. Then wipe them dry with a lint-free cloth.
Aigle recommends treating the rubber several times a year with a special care product, more often if you wear the boots every day. This helps it retain its original appearance.
