Königs at Ahrens Reitsport
Königs goes back to the shoemaking workshop that Anton Königs founded in 1850. From its own shoe production came riding boots, which later developed into the company’s main focus. Today the brand is distributed by Equestrian GmbH from Ludwigsburg, and according to the manufacturer production takes place in a traditional factory in Portugal. The range includes riding boots for dressage, show jumping and all-round use, paddock boots, half chaps and trainers.
At Ahrens Reitsport you will find Königs leather riding boots and matching half chaps. Our services in the shop in Tangstedt include fittings and made-to-measure boots and half chaps, with measuring and ordering from the manufacturer.
How long have Königs riding boots been around?
The roots of Königs go back to 1850. At that time Anton Königs founded a shoemaking workshop. Around the turn of the century the company began producing its own shoes. Later it added riding boots, which became the core of the business due to international demand.
Today Equestrian GmbH from Ludwigsburg is behind the brand. According to the manufacturer the boots are made in a traditional factory in Portugal and developed in cooperation with professional riders.
How do I measure my boot size correctly for Königs?
In addition to your shoe size you need two measurements: leg height and calf width, both taken standing with your weight evenly distributed on both legs. Measure the height wearing riding breeches and socks from the floor to the back of the knee, and the width at the widest point of the calf, without pulling the tape measure tight.
If possible do not measure directly after getting up, because in the morning calves are often slimmer than in the evening. Königs sizes are made up of shoe size, height and width.
Do Königs boots run small?
Yes, for models such as the dressage boot Nizza and the jumping boot Berlin, Königs points out that they run small and recommends going up one size. In addition there is the French last, which makes the boots slightly narrower.
If you have broader feet you should therefore try them on particularly carefully. If no off-the-peg boot fits, made-to-measure boots are an alternative. Königs offers made-to-measure riding boots with your own design.
How do I care for Königs leather boots?
First remove dust and dirt with a soft cloth or brush, or with an appropriate leather cleaner if they are very dirty. Then let the boots dry at room temperature, never on a radiator or in direct sunlight.
After that apply a small amount of leather cream or balm in circular movements, leave it to absorb for 15 to 30 minutes and then polish. A waterproofing spray offers additional protection against moisture. Always test new products first on an inconspicuous area.
