Equest at Ahrens Reitsport
EQUEST is the young brand of the Hölscher family business from the Münsterland region. Its roots go back to 1889, when Gerhard J. Hölscher founded a rope-making workshop. The company still produces headcollars and lead ropes in its own rope workshop, while saddle pads, rugs and other accessories are made at the head office in Horstmar-Leer.
At Ahrens Reitsport we stock EQUEST saddle pads for training and competition, Dralon cooler rugs, exercise sheets and quarter sheets, fly rugs, headcollars, lead ropes and lead chains, bandages with matching pads, lunging equipment and more.
Where does the brand EQUEST come from?
EQUEST is based in Horstmar-Leer in the Münsterland region and is part of the Hölscher family business. It all began in 1889 with a rope-making workshop founded by Gerhard J. Hölscher.
To this day, the headcollars and lead ropes originate from this craft and are made in the company’s own rope workshop. Saddle pads and rugs are also produced at the original site and a large number of suppliers are based in Germany and other European countries.
What are the benefits of a cooler rug made of Dralon?
Dralon is a brand name for acrylic fibres that feel similar to wool, provide warmth and dry quickly. They also retain their shape and are easy to care for. This makes Dralon a popular material for cooler rugs and exercise sheets.
From EQUEST we stock cooler rugs in the regular version, with cord and with fleece, as well as Dralon Active exercise sheets. After riding, the rug should lie loosely on the horse so that the coat underneath can dry. Stay close to your horse while it is cooling off under the rug.
Which saddle pads are available from EQUEST?
From EQUEST we stock both coloured saddle pads for daily training and classic white show saddle pads. The Macro Charm models are available with one or three decorative cords and Macro Arrow features a quilted pattern.
The Verdener saddle pad made of white molleton is a simple option for tests and competitions. When buying, make sure you choose the right cut for your saddle (dressage or show jumping) and that the saddle pad does not pull tight at the withers.
