Haas at Ahrens Reitsport
Haas has been making grooming brushes for horses in Donaueschingen in the Black Forest for over 100 years. The manufacturer relies on selected bristle blends, a great deal of handcrafting and modern production technology. All brushes, body brushes, curry combs, mane brushes and hoof picks are made in Germany.
At Ahrens Reitsport you will find Haas body brushes for different coat types, curry combs, mane and dandy brushes, small brushes for children’s hands and a hairbrush for goats. In our shop you can pick up the brushes and compare the bristles before you decide.
Where are Haas brushes made?
Haas brushes have been made in Donaueschingen in the Black Forest for over 100 years. The manufacturer combines bristles made from different materials with craftsmanship and modern technology.
For the body brushes Haas largely avoids using nails to attach the hand straps in order to prevent injuries from rusty nails. The brush backs are made of plastic, can be washed and cannot splinter or rot.
Which Haas brush do I use for what?
For the initial, rough clean you start with a curry comb, followed by a body brush or finishing brush for the coat. According to the manufacturer, Haas curry combs are made without plasticisers and are also suitable for massaging the muscles.
For mane and tail there are dedicated mane brushes in different bristle lengths, and for legs and hooves there are dandy brushes. For greys, the Schimmel body brush with firm plant-fibre bristles is designed to remove stable stains.
Are there Haas brushes for children?
Yes, Haas offers brushes with a smaller handle and child-friendly designs. We stock, for example, the children’s dandy brush and the small Mini Dolly brush, as well as small mane brushes.
This way children learn at an early age to groom their pony themselves. It is important that the brush sits well in the hand and is not too heavy. You are welcome to bring your child to our shop so that they can try out the right size themselves.
