BALLISTOL is a universal oil that was developed in 1904 by Dr Helmut Klever. The name is made up of “ballistics” and the Latin “oleum” for oil. Originally the oil was intended to care for metal parts, wood and leather straps at the same time. Today the Zettler family runs BALLISTOL GmbH, which is based in Aham in Lower Bavaria.
At Ahrens Reitsport you will find BALLISTOL Universal Oil in a 100 ml bottle and as a 200 ml spray, which is practical for caring for leather and metal in the yard.
What can I use Ballistol for in the yard?
According to the manufacturer, Ballistol Universal Oil is suitable for wood, leather, stainless steel, iron and non-ferrous metal as well as for oil-resistant rubber. In the yard you can use it, for example, on leather parts and metal fittings.
The oil does not gum up, is silicone-free and acid-free, and is considered skin friendly. On sensitive or coloured leather, test it first on an inconspicuous area.
Where does Ballistol come from?
Ballistol comes from Germany. The universal oil was developed in 1904 and from 1905 was used in the German army to care for metal, wooden stocks and leather straps.
In 1989 Dr Heinrich Zettler and his wife Herta took over the company, and since 2006 their sons have been running BALLISTOL GmbH. The company headquarters are in Aham in Lower Bavaria.
Is Ballistol environmentally friendly?
