Horslyx at Ahrens Reitsport
Horslyx is a British brand of licks, known as balancers, that provide vitamins, minerals and trace elements. They have been manufactured since 1997 in Silloth in the county of Cumbria. The idea behind them: the horse licks slowly at the block, which stimulates the flow of saliva and fits with the natural feeding behaviour of many small portions throughout the day.
At Ahrens Reitsport you will find Horslyx in the handy 650-gram size in several varieties, including Original, Mint, Garlic, Mobility, Respiratory and ProDigest.
Where does Horslyx come from?
Horslyx comes from Great Britain. The balancers have been manufactured since 1997 in Silloth in Cumbria in the north-west of England. The first product was Horslyx Original.
Later, further varieties were added, for example with garlic, for the airways or for mobility. Horslyx is now available in sizes from 650 grams to 80 kilograms. According to the manufacturer, the large containers are weatherproof for use in the field.
How does a Horslyx lick work?
The horse gradually licks away at the solid block and in this way takes in small amounts over the course of the day. This matches the natural feeding behaviour, because by nature horses eat for many hours a day.
Licking also promotes the flow of saliva. Horslyx contains vitamins, minerals and trace elements as well as oil with omega-3 fatty acids from linseed oil. It is intended to make up for nutritional gaps in the forage.
Which Horslyx variety suits my horse?
Horslyx Original is the basic variety for general nutrition. In addition, there are varieties with special additives: Mobility (with glucosamine and MSM, among others), Respiratory for the airways, Garlic with garlic, Mint with mint and ProDigest for digestion.
In the case of health problems, no variety replaces the advice of your vet. We are happy to advise you on the choice in our feed and care consultation in our shop.
