Pavo at Ahrens Reitsport
Pavo is a manufacturer of horse feed from the Netherlands with a plant in Heijen in North Limburg and a German company in Vechta-Langförden. For more than fifty years, the company has been working on equine nutrition and, in product development, cooperates with Wageningen University, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Utrecht and the Animal Health Service in Deventer.
At Ahrens Reitsport you will find hard feed from Pavo such as mueslis for senior and sport horses, herbal muesli, mash and beet pulp products as a forage supplement.
Where does Pavo horse feed come from?
Pavo comes from the Netherlands, and its factory is in Heijen in North Limburg. In Germany, PAVO Pferdenahrung GmbH in Vechta-Langförden is responsible.
The company has been developing horse feed for over fifty years and invests in scientific studies, for example on forage, chewing times, insulin resistance or gastric ulcers in sport horses. Partners include Wageningen University and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Utrecht.
How do I prepare Pavo SpeediBeet?
SpeediBeet is soaked in water before feeding and can be fed after only about 10 minutes. According to the manufacturer, the micronised beet pulp is free from starch and molasses and has a sugar content of around 5%.
When you feed it for the first time, introduce it gradually and mix SpeediBeet into your horse’s usual feed at first. In cases of laminitis or metabolic problems, please discuss the ration with your vet.
Which Pavo feed is suitable for older horses?
Pavo 18Plus Original, a muesli with a high content of high-quality protein and easily digestible energy from fibres and fats, is intended for seniors. According to the manufacturer, older horses have an increased requirement for protein and energy.
Pavo SlobberMash, a mash mixed with hot water and containing a lot of linseed, is also recommended for older horses. We are happy to advise you on a suitable ration in our feed and care advice service.
